DIVISIONS

FULL COURT DIVISIONS

  • Division One: top players, most of whom will be currently receiving coaching (yellow ball).

  • Division Two: players who are reasonably good, it is not a division for beginners (yellow ball).

  • Division Three: players who have played some tennis and are aged 10 and over (those who played in div. 4 last season should probably play in this division). This division will play on a full court but with ITF regulation green (75% compression) balls. Underarm serving is permitted in this division for the 2nd serve.

  • Division Four: children aged 9 and over who have played little or no tennis. This division will play on a full court but with ITF regulation orange (50% compression) balls. Underarm serves are permitted in this division for both serves.

MODIFIED COURT DIVISION

  • Kiwi Division, sponsored by Inspire Tennis:. This division will play on half-courts with ITF regulation red (25% compression) balls. Players must serve underarm. The intention is to move to three-quarter courts after Christmas.

TEAMS ARE LIKELY TO BE MADE OF UP TO 6 CHILDREN. ONLY 4 WILL PLAY IN ANY ONE WEEK. A ROSTER SYSTEM WILL BE SET UP BY YOUR TEAM MANAGER.

In order for us to participate in this event, we rely on some of our parent help for supervision and management of teams. This involves ensuring a full team can play, staying with the children and umpiring using a simple scoring card that will be provided. Training can be given for umpiring. The school welcomes students who have not previously played.

There will be training with Glen Cameron from Rapaura Tennis Club at lunchtime on Fridays for St Mary’s Students. We are very lucky to have Glen volunteer his time for our students. Any students can play, you do not have to have any experience. If you have any question and would like more information, please give Glen a call on 021 1157239

Want to learn how to run, jump or throw? The skills you learn in athletics are the perfect foundation for almost any sport.

Every student can give athletics a go. Our local athletics club is welcoming new members now and we encourage students to get involved and get active.

They have a junior section, which caters for 5-6 year olds. The emphasis on this group is to introduce children to track and field events, focusing on the development of the correct techniques and skills – while having fun!

Older children, aged 7-15 year old, take part in a more structured programme focused on age-appropriate events. You can find out more on our About page. Contact details for click this link:  Marlborough Athletics
