Health & Safety
To meet the requirements of the school’s Health and Safety Policy, all visitors to the school must sign in and out at the School Office.
It is vital that the school be informed of any allergies or other relevant medical problems that your child may have or may develop. These should be noted both on the Enrolment and Pupil Information Forms. If your child receives daily medication during school hours, we require parents to sign a school Medication Form, on an annual basis. These are available from the office. No medication will be administered unless we have this form in our Medical Register. It is important that the medication be taken to and from school by an adult and be clearly labelled with your child’s name and dosage.
If your child requires medication on a casual basis, please bring it to the office between 8.30 and 9am and complete a medical form.
We do not give students any form of medical pain relief. If a child requires this, parents will be contacted and asked to collect their child.
If a child becomes ill at school, a parent, or an emergency contact, is contacted immediately so that the child can be taken home and receive the care and attention that is necessary.
The Dental Clinic is at the Community Oral Health Clinic (Cnr Nelson & McLauchlan Streets; phone 520 9922). You will be contacted by the clinic when your child is due for a check-up. Parents are responsible for taking their child to and from the appointment. It is important that you notify the school office or the class teacher the time of your child’s appointment if it is during school time.
No student can leave the school grounds on their own to go to the Dental Clinic. They need to be accompanied by an adult.
The school Health Nurse visits the school regularly and is available to discuss any health problems that may arise. Her contact number is available at the school office.
